A "new" arrival

Yesterday I went back to my Leica roots and bought myself a Digilux 2 - again!
This camera is a real gem and in my opinion really deserves the description "iconic". The combination of lens, sensor, and software produces images that truly have something special. The thread in the L-Camera-Forum Digital Section called "Do Digilux 2 images have a special look" must be one of the largest threads ever, and shows just what this cmaera is capable of.
This example might best be described as somewhere between "Exc." and "Good user" i.e. it has had a life. But that's ok by me. The sensor has not been changed but Leica/Sony are still honouring their free replacement programme, for those cameras that fail and whose sensor fell within the faulty batch.
Why did I do it?
Apart from impulse, that is?
Nostalgia?
Convenience might be a good reason.
I found on my last trip, that I could take 95%-ish of shots with the X-1, a fixed focal length of 35mm equivalent. Until Leica (hopefully, please kind gnomes of Solms) produce and X-2 or similar with a e.g. 24 - 75 or 90mm zoom lens and at least the same image quality, the Digilux 2 will do nicely.
So it's 2 fairly light cameras but no need to change lenses. I can live with that.
