Progress at last! We are only about 2 weeks away from a move in!. Main contractor is finished and just has snagging to do; flooring and carpets are in; decorator is finished except for a small amount of wallpapering.
Basic parts of the Vitsoe shelving arrive today and will be fixed to the study wall to await the rest tomorrow; tomorrow all our possessions arrive from 8 months in storage.
Now we have the unenviable task of sorting things out!

Where does all the time go?

This year is proving something of a disaster for photography. The last six months have been more or less taken up with planning, specifying with the invaluable help of an Interior Designer, tendering and now supervising the fitting out of our flat in the Barbican. Add to this the travel time from/to the temporary flat in Docklands, and working at Red Dot two days per week, plus social life, theatre etc. and there hasn't been much time left for taking, far less processing and publishing photos!
Roll on November when we will be in the Barbican and life can return to its more usual pace and programme and I can catch up.

Fit-out proceeds apace.

Considerable progress in only just over 2 weeks work. All the stripping out of the old kitchen and bathroom etc., the building of new walls, the first fix of wiring, most of the the plumbing, about 2/3 of the bathroom work and in the last day or so the start of installing the kitchen cabinets. Remarkable!
I reckon that substantial completion could well be about on time (or should I not say that?) at the first week of September.
But you would not believe the number of points of detail that arise nearly every day!
All this means of course that there is little time for photography!

Listed Building Consent came through on the 15th July - the Barbican has been Grade II listed since 2001 so the parts of our refurbishment that need that Consent have been approved. At long last early this week the BEO (Barbican Estate Office) gave the go ahead by granting Landlord's consent. So our contractor actually started work ripping out the kitchen and bathroom and generally clearing out the old ready for the new. He doesn't waste any time!
Later this week the plumber and electrician will be in doing their stuff.
I shall be heartily glad when I don't have to spend time searching out items, colours, and all the bits and bobs, and can get back to photography and working on my images and website!
