THE ONE CHALLENGE

An annual competition for Leica Camera Forum members. This is held in mid-October as part of a social weekend in a city chosen each year by the forum members from a short list compiled by the organising group. All LUF members are welcome to take part, distance no object - one has even come from Australia on more than one occasion! Competitors have 2 hours to shoot a maximum of one roll of film or 36 digital images. They must pre-declare their use of one camera, one single focal length lens (or a fixed focal length if using a zoom), one film speed (or ISO value if using digital); either camera or lens (or both) must be by Leica. They may then anonymously submit one image for judging by the full Forum membership. There are currently no prizes except the honour of winning.
Venues to date have been London 2004, Amsterdam 2005, Paris 2006, Berlin 2007, Krakow 2008, Valetta (Malta) 2009, Venice 2010 (where for the first time there was both a Day and Night Challenge), and Palermo (Sicily) 2011. I have taken part in this enjoyable but surprisingly difficult event since 2007 but circumstances prevented my attendance at Venice, alas. The venue for 2012 will be Copenhagen.
